Your favorite gadget contributes to the world’s 53.6 million metric tons (Mt) of E-Waste. Every year, it increases with fast technology – swapping our gadgets for new ones every 2 years. It is estimated that by 2030, our E-Waste will increase to 74.7 Mt.
Why should we properly dispose of E-Waste?
It is made of dangerous chemicals like lead, mercury and lithium which are toxic to the environment if not properly disposed. Even so, it is toxic to you and me! When we are exposed to these chemicals, it can lead to life-threatening complications such as poisoning, immune system disorders, and even cancer.
So, before you throw your old charger or gadget – think twice! Go to SM collection centers instead!
